Atlantic Shores is a retirement community located in Virginia Beach, Virginia on 100 wooded acres on the shore of Red Wing Lake and near Red Wing Golf Course, one-mile west of the Atlantic Ocean.  We offer a wide variety of services and amenities and have 24-hour, on-site professional health care and security available if ever needed.

Our active and involved residents live in apartment homes or private villas in which they have equity ownership.  As the only equity ownership retirement community in the Hampton Roads area, Atlantic Shores lets you continue the smart strategy of homeownership without all the chores and upkeep.

What is equity ownership?  Equity ownership means you purchase exclusive possession of your villa or apartment home at Atlantic Shores, as well as an interest in the entire community.  This offers you several unique benefits, ranging from tax deductions and potential appreciation in value, to having a voice in the community’s future through the cooperative association.

By contrast, most retirement communities require a large, up-front fee, often called an entrance fee.  This fee entitles you to residency, whereas your Atlantic Shores purchase price gives you ownership.  Essentially, it’s the difference between renting and owning.
